Meeting Overview —

The Australian Government is developing its new National Microcredentials Framework which will recognise the role of microcredentials in lifelong learning and the need for a learner-centred approach. The Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) is playing a key role in the development of this framework. 

Panel Participation —

As the focus of employers, employees, and the tertiary education sector is on microcredentials, it has become apparent that there are different perspectives and different interests.

At this meeting of the ITECA Microcredential Interest Group, you’ll get to hear from three key individuals working with the Australian Government on the new framework.

You’ll have the opportunity to offer your thoughts on some key issues before the Australian Government’s Microcrentials Working Group, including those set out below

.....- The definition of a microcredential;
.....- The perceptions of microcredentials differ in the VET and HE sectors
.....- The relationship, if any, to the AFQ;
.....- Do they need to lead to the award of a qualification?
.....- What might a recognition arrangement look like?

There is broad agreement on some of the key issues; however, there are also differing views on many of the issues set out above.  This meeting of the ITECA Microcredential Interest Group is your opportunity to help shape the thinking of some key stakeholders

This meeting is an exclusive opportunity for employees of ITECA Corporate, Associate and Affiliate members plus Business Supporters.  If your organisation is not currently an ITECA member and would like to get involved in the ITECA VET In Schools Interest Group, be sure to submit a membership application today!

VET College Recognition — 

Participants in this meeting that whom are endorsed by the ITECA College of Vocational Education and Training Professionals as a Certified Education Manager (CEM) will be entitled to claim one (1) hour professional development towards their annual requirement.
