2021-23 ITECA Strategic Plan

The 2021-23 ITECA Strategic Plan provides the framework where we will assist our members to face the challenges before them and capitalise on available opportunities to grow their organisation. It is a document that put students at the centre and positions the independent tertiary education sector to provide the skilled and educated force that business is desperately seeking.

The Covid-19 pandemic has presented the independent tertiary education sector with many challenges, and most likely will forever change how we live and how businesses operate.

We can have confidence that the economic recovery, disrupted as it will be by Covid-19 outbreaks, will return and present opportunities for the independent tertiary education sector. It is clear that the recovery path will be underpinned by a skilled and educated workforce, one in which Australia’s independent tertiary education sector will play a critical role

Review The
2021-23 ITECA Strategic Plan

    A Sustainable & Integrated System:
Australia’s productivity and prosperity depends on an integrated tertiary education system in which the higher education sector and the vocational education training sector operate as one but retain their individual strengths and identities. We need to recognise that, in the age of lifelong learning, Australians need the ability to select the provider that is best suited to helping students and the broader workforce achieve their life and career goals.

    A Student Centric Agenda:
ITECA will work to ensure that, as a nation, we empower students to be at the centre of the tertiary education system. Students must have access to the information that will help in choosing the provider that’s best able them to acquire the knowledge and skills achieve their life and career goals. Equipped with this information, they will be backed by government to select the provider of their choice as they embark on their lifelong learning journey.

    A System Committed To Excellence:
Independent providers in the higher education, vocational education, training and skills sectors have a long and proud and demonstrated reputation for excellence. The challenge before Australia is to embody this commitment to excellence and to create a regulatory and funding environment in which the sector can support students sustainably.

    An Outcomes Focussed Agenda:
ITECA will be a strong advocate for policy reforms that empower providers that have a commitment to leadership, professionalism and excellence. With the active support of our members, ITECA will promote positive change that protects students’ interests and the reputation of the tertiary education system, which is supported by a government investment in tertiary education that acts as an enabler to achieving quality outcomes rather than as a punitive inhibitor. The structure of Australia’s tertiary education system – it’s regulation the shape of the government’s investment – should serve to foster the growth of providers that have demonstrated a repeated ability to deliver the outcomes that students and their employers look for.
