Summary —

The Victorian Government is currently seeking expressions of interests from independent Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to secure a ‘Skills First’ funding contract. The Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) is convening a meeting for members to understand what it means to be a ‘Skills First’ contracted provider and what the Victorian Government is likely to look for in offering contexts.

Key Issues —

The Victorian Department of Education and Training has released information on the new limited Expression of Interest which forms the first new round of Skills First funding in five years.  The move follows sustained advocacy by ITECA Victoria.

The Victorian Government’s approach will restrict the number of RTOs that can enter the program. To assist independent RTO’s lodge an expression of interest, ITECA Victoria is pleased to provide a briefing session on Monday, 6 September 2021 which will canvass the issues set out below.

The possibility to acquire a ‘Skills First’ funding contract covers providers that have one or more of the 56 qualifications, 28 Non-Foundation Qualifications and 28 Foundation Qualifications, on scope.
