Summary —

Innovation & Business Skills Australia (IBSA) is undertaking a second round of public consultation regarding the Industrial Sewing Skill Set. They are seeking feedback from those with an interest in the industry by Thursday 5 December 2019.

Key Issues —

IBSA held a public consultation forum on 15 October 2019 on the development of national qualifications for the industry and the apparent mismatch of skills and business needs.

Key revisions from Round 1 Consultation —

  • Minor changes to performance criteria, performance evidence and knowledge evidence to support increased flexibility and cross-sector application of the units.
  • Clarification of references to Australian Standards and inclusion of reference to product-specific personal protective equipment knowledge.
  • The inclusion of the Foundation Skills field in each unit where these skills are not explicit enough in the performance criteria.
