Key Issues —

In an announcement welcomed by Victorian members of the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA), the Victorian Government will provide additional support for international students affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

The International Student Emergency Relief Fund will deliver $45 million in support to international students in Victoria who face financial hardship as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This support is being delivered in partnerships with tertiary education providers

ITECA Victoria members have been advocating for direct support measures of this kind that deliver essential services support and provision to international students at the most critical of times. Many international students are feeling significant pressures related to employment, accommodation, health, legal and other issues due to the Covid-19 response and are experiencing difficulty continuing to fully support themselves.

Key information about the application process for students at independent provides is available from the Study Melbourne website:

This announcement comes on top of other support measures already announced for international students in Victoria.
