Introduction —
This briefing will provide stakeholders across the independent tertiary education sector with the latest thinking why the pathway for the return of international students in large numbers suggests this goal won’t be achieved until 2022 given current policy settings.
Key Issues —
The commercial sustainability of many independent tertiary education providers hinges on the large scale return of international students and there is great uncertainty as to when this will occur.
Some intimately involved in these discussions have concluded that the large scale return of international students is not likely until early 2022, and perhaps later, given current policy settings – is this the case and, if so, why? Alternatively, if students are to come in large numbers earlier, what will need to change?
