Member-Driven Policy Advocacy

.
..

ITECA Higher Education empowers independent higher education institutions with the influence to drive policy reform not only at a state and territory level but also nationally. If you’re interested in changing government policy and shaping the future of independent higher education, it’s a great time to get involved.

Backed by the advice and guidance of our members, the policy solutions tendered by ITECA Higher Education are respected by Ministers, Shadow Ministers, and senior departmental staff.  This reflects a member-driven approach to policy-based policy advocacy that is underpinned by constructive and collaborative conversations across government and with key stakeholders.

Higher education advocacy —
Creating equity in higher education study choices

At the core of the policy undertaken by ITECA Higher Education is the creation of a level playing field, where students can freely choose to study with an independent higher education institution and be backed by governments through access to subsidised places and student loans.

Higher education advocacy —
Progressing key issues important to the sector

With the great support of members, the focus of ITECA Higher Education is on ensuring that your views are taken into account when the government is reforming regulatory standards such as the higher education threshold standards, reviewing the FEE-HELP loan program, and increasing access to Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs).

Higher education advocacy —
Collaborative engagement at the highest levels of government

The ITECA Higher Education policy team works on a daily basis to ensure the views of members are known to Ministers, the opposition, the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the Department of Education, plus other key departments and agencies.

ITECA Higher Education wields formidable power in driving significant policy reform by harnessing the considerable resources and specialist policy expertise within the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) that also covers the vocational education and international education sectors.
