The Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) is a growing community of independent skills training and higher education providers that have a proud tradition of supporting international students. Through the ITECA International Education National Policy Committee these members are empowered with the influence to drive reform.
The ITECA International Education National Policy Committee is the national forum for members to provide advice and guidance to the ITECA Board and the policy advocacy team on matters associated with the policy framework that underpins Australia’s international education sector as well as the regulation and broader quality of that sector.

To preserve the sector’s reputation for quality in a way that balances the compliance burden with the need to avoid unnecessary red tape |

To harmonise the different compliance and reporting obligations faced by independent international education providers. |

To ensure that the student visa framework facilitates the ability of a student to study in Australia in a way that preserves the integrity of migration policy. |

The effectiveness and responsiveness of the Department of Education and the Department of Home Affairs with respect to policy design and implementation. |

The effectiveness and responsiveness of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) insofar as they relate to the regulation of international education. |

National reporting frameworks of international education providers. |

Overseas market promotion and access. |
| |

Opportunities to reduce red tape in a way that preserves the integrity of the international education sector and its reputation for excellence. |

The committee has no delegated decision-making; however, it can provide advice and guidance to the ITECA Board and ITECA policy team charged with policy advocacy. |

The ability of members to drive positive policy reform stems from ITECA's collaborative engagement with key stakeholders such as English Australia (EA), the International Education Association Australia (IEAA) and Universities Australia (UA).

The ITECA International Education National Policy Committee is supported by ITECA's policy advocacy team based in Canberra, just a few minutes from parliament house. The committee is reconstituted every second year (odd years) with members invited to nominate participants which are then selected by the ITECA Board having regard for the nominees experience and expertise.
ITECA provides leadership, strategy, advocacy and support. Our members set our agenda, fund our activities and directly benefit from the results.
