Major Policy Advocacy Priorities

.
..

Higher education plays a pivotal role in shaping Australia’s future, empowering individuals with knowledge, fostering innovation, and nurturing critical thinking. To be its best, it needs reform that positions it as a catalyst for progress and a beacon of hope for a prosperous future. This transformation needs to put students at the heart of the higher education system.

With the backing of member institutions, ITECA Higher Education works at a departmental and parliamentary level to ensure that students are at the heart of the higher education system and that governments back the informed decision of students to study with independent higher education providers.

Its abhorrent that many students that study with an independent higher education institution have to pay a 20% student loan tax, and ITECA Higher Education is leading the campaign to abolish the tax.

    Advocacy Priority —
A More Cohesive Tertiary Education System

Conversations are underway across government to creating an integrated tertiary education system where the higher education and skills training sectors operate as one, but retains their separate strengths and identities.

  Advocacy Priority —
Government Red Tape Reduction

Member institutions are identifying the duplicative, redundant, and burdensome government red tape so that it can be removed, allowing institutions to focus on delivering quality student outcomes.

The ITECA Higher Education membership are catalysts for progress, driving the national reform debate to ensure that government both recognises and backs their pioneering research, innovative teaching methods, and diverse perspectives. This work is made possible as its backed by the formidable resources and expertise of the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) with a membership that also includes leading vocational education and international education providers.
